the-international-eye:

Top notch Statesmanship from Christie. Once again the NJ Governor is proving to be a shining example of the sort of politician that America deserves to have, and one who is no doubt looking strategically to 2016.

He is of course magnificently correct in pointing out that the Republicans have gone off a cliff all of their own making. It isnt everyday that ones gets to see morons hoisted by their own, toddler-tantrum-esq, Petard. To let Jersey continue to flounder (quite literally, its wet there) in the wake of Fiscal Cliff negotiations is in poor taste for a party of Cowboys ostensibly set on lowering taxes for all. Here’s Why:

Consider the Ocean City Board Walk for example. This was a key part of local tourism that has been destroyed, without it, local land values will plumet (awkwardly affecting the many wealthy investors in the area). The only way to avoid this is to repair it. Without all that federal aid of course, local legislatures will be looking to their own citizens for the money. The result will be higher taxes on everyone and most likely higher taxes on the wealthy (perhaps the same people that sent said cowboys to congress in the fist place).

New Jersey has long been a home for moderate Republicans, save for Scott Garret who has a long history of being pro-gun, pro life, pro oil companies and pro-off shore drilling (often vehemently so). With no tea Partiers in sight it is a shame that they (along with other tea-party empty states Connecticut and New York) are just other corners of country that must suffer for the votes cast elsewhere.
